When You Feel Like You’re Not Good Enough

We all know it’s not easy building the confidence we need daily. Life changes will constantly challenge our belief in ourselves and can trample on our self-esteem overnight. This is why nurturing ourselves is a big step in getting over the feeling of not being good enough.

It isn’t easy when you feel like the whole world is against you. That feeling is when something goes wrong, and you think it’s your fault for not getting the job right. You’d want to wallow in self-loathing and beat yourself up emotionally over things that may or may not be necessary. It’s never really a good feeling to have. Even so, that doesn’t mean the feeling of not being good enough will stay forever. There are ways to get out of it and strengthen yourself.

Only you have the control and capacity to build yourself up and decide to take control or let yourself get swayed by overwhelming emotions crashing all at once. The spiritual journey through faith and courage will not be easy, but a stronger heart and mind are all you need to power through.

Determining the Root Cause

It would help if you found out what are the reasons why you feel that you’re not good enough. Identifying the cause of it all enables you to understand yourself better and will eventually help you get over it. When determining where the source comes from, ask yourself if they are based on reality or just a compilation of other people’s opinions. If it’s the latter, you need to be kinder and not let your self-esteem crumble from what others say about you. Allowing those negative opinions to rule over your life will not benefit you.

However, welcoming positive reinforcements from yourself and other supportive people around you will sow the seeds of joy and enhanced self-worth.

Confidence Is Key

We’ve heard the all-time classic saying, “Fake it till you make it.” The fear of not being good enough can also stem from our lack of confidence in certain areas. If confidence is not our strong suit, we must practice it all the time and possibly, build ourselves around it so it will come naturally in the future. However, this doesn’t imply that we entirely become something or someone we’re not because we might lose ourselves and fail to show our genuine side if that happens. We need to exhibit the right kind of confidence that is heartfelt and not out of arrogance.

Celebrate All Wins, Small or Large

Sometimes, part of getting over the feeling of not being good enough is trying to look back at past successes that have contributed to you gaining confidence, regardless of the amount. Whether big or small, there is always a reason to be joyful and self-assured. Never forget how those wins made you feel and how you were able to overcome the obstacles along the way.

Experiencing a series of successful outcomes helps you build that confidence for a long while and lets you visualize how it will contribute to the boost in your self-esteem. Essentially, the accumulated wins you’ve had will become a powerful reinforcement for your well-being, even if there will come a time that life will test your level of positivity.

Let Yourself Feel the Fear

To overcome the fear of not being good enough, you must throw yourself out there and face your biggest fears. Doing so will help you move forward and may even make you grow and gain the self-confidence you’ve been looking for. Even if you feel the anxiety caving in and there seems to be no way out, the boost in self-esteem might happen from there, which will take you by surprise.

Other Important Points to Remember

It would be best if you believe in yourself a little bit more. Allow yourself to take hold of the positive words you give to others and not disregard your support system just because you feel terrified. Do not make room for doubt at all costs, or you’re back to zero and won’t feel good enough again. Most importantly, this process is lifelong, and positively reinforcing yourself takes a lot of work. But it does reap incredible results and may help you overcome the feeling of not being good enough, one step at a time.
